volant ram air intake
#1
Anyone have any first hand experience with this product? I'm thinking of buying the ram air tube atachment for my volant intake. Any notisable difference? Is it worth the $125? Thanks for your help.

This is just my 2 cents worth but you probably could make it for a lot less. I believe the Volant airbox has a round opening on the bottom for the air supply, right? Get some flexible a/c duct (3" or 4") and run it down to the bumper. Use a rectangular a/c register for the scoop, mount it in the opening next to the passenger side fog light. Would only cost about $30. I made a ram air set up like this, I'm using the stock intake right now with a K&N drop in filter and this ram-air mod. I have an Ultimate PD intake tube and lid on the way, should really help. You can see my ram-air set up on www.fullsizechevy.com , it's under the "performance" forum there, look for "Y2K Silverado's ram-air". This is just an idea!

graygmc: An a/c register is the wall or floor vent you would see in your house, office, etc.. I got it from Home Depot, it's about 5"x9" and has a 4" round back where I connected the 4" a/c duct. It works great as a scoop, it makes a big difference over just connecting some a/c duct and having it hang down.
