Default Volant CAI ?'s

I purchased the first gen design Volant for my 5.3 Silverado back in 2000. It was just the box then. Wondering if there are any reasons I should update to the newer version which includes a new box, and pipe into the TB? Comments please. Thanks.

if your still running the stock pipe.. i'd definatly upgrade... i am upgrading my airaid MIT tube setup... its just not flowing like i want it. I also think their new box is better to get the coldest air possible.

What prices are you finding the voltants priced at? and where?

I think T Byrne Motorsports has the best price so far. Not sure about getting the ram air tube with it or not. Did a search, some say it's great, others, don't waste your money.

Basically, the reason some are saying don't waste your money on the ram air tube is because the Volant CA box is also designed to take in air from the fender with out the ram air tube.
The Volant box has openings for the fender hole and the ram air tube.
Therefore, if you just add the ram air tube, your really just ramming the air right back out of the fender.
The advantage is that your ambient air stays cool in the box. Also not much water can be thrown at the cone air filter due to no vacuum in the air box.
Now if you block off the fender hole in the Volant air box with the ram air tube installed you will see a difference in performance.
Disadvantage: You may possibly soak the cone air filter with water and take in a lot of road debris/ rocks and dirt.
It's really your choice.

CHEVY6000VHO...Did you block off the fender opening on your Volant box? If you did...did you really notice that much difference running with the ram air set up?

i think you might see a 2-3hp gain with the ram air tube.. whether its worth the 80bucks? you can decide

most are just making one and saving 60bucks

i got my stuff from tbyrne and had it all in 2-3 days
