You can use a depth gauge on a dial caliper from the top of your retainer to the spring seat. Then measure the thickness of the retainer from where you set your caliper to take the first measurement to the bottom where the spring contacts it. now subtract this measurement from the first measurment. Should be your installed height. now subtract your valve lift from the installed height and make sure that number is greater than your springs advertised coil bind height.

Will do.

I spoke with the machine shop that refreshed the heads today.

He had mentioned that he trimmed the valve stems down to compensate for milling the head surface 0.006".
Also had recommended that I pull my lifters out with the heads still installed. All I gotta do is take off the intake....

I'm in the process of pulling my 5.3L heads and cleaning them up to do measurements and compare.
