Default Vibrations after shackle intsall

I was having a bad vibration at take off, then i put my stock schackes back on and it went away. Has anyone had problems with vibrations in the driveline after putting a set of 2" shackles on your trucks? I want it to set level but I don't want it to shake me to death like it was at take off. Please let me know if you have any info.

I had the same exact problem. I installed a 2 degree pinion angle shim kit and solved my problem. Good Luck.

Where did you get your shim kit? And where do you put the shim at, the front or the back of the axle? I put the stock shackles back in because i was so tired of trying to fix it and the vibration was driving me insane.

yea, its the pinion angle shim. Make sure the skinny part of the shim faces the rear of the truck, and the fat part faces the front.

My shim came with my belltech kit, you may want to give them a call, or maybe you can order it online.

on your ECSB - the shims prob will not fix it
I did a 2" shackle first and mine shook at around 12 MPH
The shims did nothing to help it.
Will need to do the carrier bearing relo to fix it

Just 2" shackles you wont have to move the carrier. You only need to do that with 4" or more. Our trucks are made for a load in back, and to ride 2" or so lower. Thats why they have the rake. On my 2-4 drop i took out my middle leaf, added coil overs, and shackles. It vibrated under acceleration, so i did move the carrier up about 1.25" and got rid of it.

You could just simply buy some spring clamps for $10 at an auto parts and clamp the front of the overload spring to the reg spring to bring back the right pinion angle. This also helps with wheel hop.

Before my 2" drop I had a vibration and Gm could not get it out so I had to live with it. GM told me 99' had drive line issuses. I did not notice it much only under fast acceleration. When I did the 2" drop I used the shims and vibration was back. I played with the center bearing sliding it back and forth and did not make much of an improvment. I installed a kit called Active Suspension which is an over load helper and the vibration was pretty much gone and made it ride better. When the 2-4 drop went in o'boy what vibration we have now so I installed the center bearing kit and adjusted on it till I got it close but a little vibration still there. I saw the show Trucks when Stacey did the 2-4 drop on a chevy and when he put in the tranny spacer (bam) there's my viberation. I went out to the shop made a 3-3" square 3/8 thick aluminum plate, installed it and viberation gone. The truck vibrated bad pulling my boat when taking off but not any more.

If you put the 2" + shims back in try making a tranny spacer and trying it. It might work because your changing the angle of the drive line.

I put 2" shackles on my 99 and my ride quality went to hell. When I bought it new, I took it back to the dealer 7 times for the vibration, they finally put a new driveshaft in and it got better for a day. That's one of the reasons I got rid of it. My 02 is stock and rides smooth as can be. I've heard a lot of complaints on the 99-00 models, due to vibration, that's why they're called the "SHAKERS".

My 2000 ECSB with 2" shackles doesn't vibrate a bit. When I first put the 20's on it did until I re-balanced the fronts. I bought them mounted and balanced (mail order)and aparently they weren't balanced correctly. They were about a half ounce out but you wouldn't believe what a difference that made. As for the shackles, no problems and I didn't install the ship nor the driveshaft carrier drop kit, although I had planned on the driveshaft carrier thing IF I did have any issues.

The shim kit fixed it for me except for I installed mine with the thicker part in the rear. But you should be able to get the kit from anyone who sells belltech products. Good luck!
