Vette servo impressions
#1
I got the servo installed. It's like 2:30AM. Took me like 3 hours of labor. Man I am a dumbass sometimes. First I put the rod, spring, washer and e-clip assembly in backwards, and the trans would not shift properly. Luckily I did not seem to burn anything up. There are good install pics at http://sethirdgen.org/servo.htm (this page is not selling anything, just a free walkthrough) Some tips for you guys who may do this. When they say there's a cover over the servo with 2 10mm bolts, they mean the big heat shield between the cat and the transmission. I thought it meant a little round cover that was for the servo. Also you only have to jack the truck up about 8-10 inches, and you also don't have to cut the old blue seal (just in case the new one gets broken somehow.) You can just gently pry the piece out with a flat screwdriver behind where the seal is. Anyway onto the impressions. My first cruise was with Hypertech shift altering on. Man it shifts so hard it could hurt your neck, even at part and light throttle. I did not feel comfortable with the trans shifting that hard, so I took the Hypertech shifting off. With just the Vette servo, the light throttle shifting is just like with the Hypertech and stock servo. At part throttle, the 1-2 felt just like with Hypertech and stock servo, and the 2-3 was much firmer than the Hypertech and stock servo. At full throttle, the 1-2 was actually a bit sluggish, possibly more than the stock WOT shift. Perhaps this is the TQM you guys are always talking about?? Or was TQM on 2000's? Or maybe it was just a fluke. Anyways you guys should all get one of these. They kick ***, and like I said the Vette servo plus Hypertech shifting is crazy hard, like most of you would probably like (not sure how good it is for internals though.) If you have questions on install or performance, then post away.

where'd you get this? how much? can i order one and have it shipped to my house? sounds like just what i need to wip my friend's @$$ from a roll. he's aleady my b*tch from a stop (haha me and my damn torque) but my slow shifting tranny gives his car the heads up from a roll.
also does anyone know if the servo on top of hypertech will hurt or break anything? cuz if it snaps my neck and not my parts i'll love it.

Crazyidiot4.8 I do not know if it will make the 2-1 or 3-1 downshift any faster, but it is still worth the $25. I got it from Vortech5300. I am not sure what store he got it at or if any of the sponsors carry it, but if you look on ebay you can find them. The 1-2 WOT shift is bad ***, I just had to check and get the trans fluid filled right.

it might not help the downshifts but i figure just the little bit more of help from the upshifts will help me enough to squeak in front of him. course once i start bouncing off the speed limiter he'll pass me again but i can live with that kind of loss.

I think the web site is a Transgo kit. You could get the GM parts but they would be like 60 bucks. Mine were aftermarket and were 25 bucks. I compared it to the one I pulled out and did not notice any difference in quality. I wish Vortech5300 was on here, he could tell you what kind of shop carries these things! There are some on ebay too but they want like 8 bucks shipping and the thing weighs less than a pound.

Cash Homie, the servo I sold you is an OEM 2002 Vette servo. ITs made by GM. I got it from a tranny parts shop. Thats all they do is sell tranny parts. I have mine in with the HPP3 shift firmness. Its shifts pretty well but not as hard as yours. On say a half throttle 1-2 shift its definetly more positive and I get a bark on the full throttle 1-2 shift. Not really that hard at all though in the city. Thats the point of it though, I like autos that shift GOOD. YOu think this thing shifts hard, ride in HYDE's truck, Hpp3, servo and a transgo kit. He gets 2ng gear rubber in the city cruising around. LOL

You might try http://www.truckperformance.com but I don't know what all they carry.

Vortech5300 I didn't know it was OEM. You got a great deal on those man. Thanks again. So it is not going to overheat my transmission if I use the Hypertech shifts too?
