the truck intake will work fine along with everything else bolts right up the only problems have been at idle which can be taken care of via ls1 edit the truck intake will make more torque due to the longer runners versus the ls6 which has short runners for more hp there is one bolt that doesn't go in for something but it's nothing major

So will the ls6 intake manifold fit of the 5.3 motors? If so what kind of HP gains would there be?

there would be a hp gain in the uppper rpms but not much the truck intake out flows the ls1 intake but not the ls6 but it is pretty close to the ls6 so i wouldn't waste your money swapping intakes

From a pure power standpoint, the LS6 intake would be best. The truck intake has been designed to produce more torque while the LS6 is for flat out power. Physically, the LS6 intake will fit, but you will have two obstacles in your accessories to deal with:

Waterpump hose on the truck comes out the top and would interfere with the intake tube. Reroute the hose or use a cars waterpump to solve this issue.

The alternator bracket has a pulley that sits just under the throttle body. The lower LS6 intake will put the throttle body right on top of this pulley. So it means a custom alt bracket and maybe rerouting the belt lower, but then that will hit the waterpump pulley. So maybe you could use a Meziere electric waterpump, electric cooling fans, a custom alternator bracket and pulleys. Then we might need to firm up the power steering bracket some since it shares part of the stock alternator bracket.

The other thought is to convert over to a complete Fbody accessory system since we know that stuff fits.

wont you have a fuel injector problem as well???? the trucks and f-bodys use different styles of injectors, so wouldnt that cause a problem as well????

You could use a vette fuel rail from the 1997 yeat model. It had the fuel regulator on the rail very similar to our trucks. Its a matter of getting the existing fuel hoses stretched about 6 more inches. The truck injectors may fit, but they are about 5/8ths of an inch shorter than the stock LS1 injector. The LS1 fuel rail crossover tube has about 5/8ths of an inch clearance over the top of the plastic, so it might just fit. Trial and error with this one.

I would go with the 6.0L intake--no muss, no fuss. Simple bolt-on installation, and you need the torque down low to get that big ex-cab moving!

If u use the car water pump, I think you will have to use all the cars acc's so the pulley's will all line up.Just put all the truck stuff on. I put a 2000 LS1 out of a vette in my truck and you can't tell just by looking. U have to really look close to see that I have an aluminum block. Very Stealth!

Good luck finding an LS1 at your local junk yard.

The 6L should give you a little more torque than an LS1, but the LS1 weighs less and has higher compression in stock form. I'd run a stock LS1 over a stock 6L. If you have the motor built with good internals, I'd choose the 6L for the extra cubic inches.
