Default valvetrain noise after reinstaling head

my buddy had to remove his head because he had a leak, now his rockers, springs, or pushrods are making sawing machine noise. they weren't this loud before he took the head off. can anyone think of what this could be.

it is a cammed 6.0 with 918 springs and comp cam pushrods. please help!!

Did You'll Shaved The Heads Any We Had This Problem A Few Times We Shimed The Bar Under The Rocker Arms The Same Amount That We Shaved And It Help A Little.

When I went with the aftermaket valvetrain(everything except lifters and rollers) mine became alot louder. I was always told it was lifter nosie! I will eventually put some new lifters in there but Im basiclly used to it. Another fix is a louder exhaust or bigger cam!

My buddy who works at a dealerhsip see trucks but mainly LS1's come in all the time that sound like sewing machines!

yeah i've been tring to stay away from this site, it only gets me in troble, i ended up selling my 6.0 cammed set up becasue i knew i wouldn't be able to afford a trans, then i ended up spending that money on my quad. i just need to quit modding everything i own and save for a house so i can mod that. anyways

yeah we torqued everything down and let the truck run for like 5 mins, every thing looked like it was getting oil, but it still makes the noise. then we took it out and drove it for 5 mins still has the noise. we poured motor oil onto the rockers just to make sure everything is oiled good, still makes the noise.

this sounds like a singer with a supercharger and a knock. it wasn't this bad before he took the head off, it had a light singer noise, but nothing like this.

nope still stock 317 heads.

yeah it defently got louder, after adding the springs, but it was nothing like this. when we pulled the truck out of his garage that is all you could hear, he has new SLP loudmouths 2 's with no cats and it over powered them. i will try to go over there today and post and take a video of it to maybe help him solve his problem.

if your rocker arms are not completely lined up strait would that cause them to make a noise, because i think a couple of them in the back might be a hair off, but they are still on the valve.

i will defently try to get a video for everyone. because he has had the worst luck with his truck and i would realy like to see it running right( so does he).

The rocker arms are self centering so that shouldnt be the problem. I've noticed mine sounding like a s/c, but it doesn't go like it has one I've always heard the 918's are loud. I had a pushrod that was partially plugged and caused a tapping noise. But thats not the problem youre having. I assume you put the pushrods and rockers back in the same place thay came from?

he said that he took them out and and layed them out all inorder so im assuming he put them back in the right place, the truck only has proably 400 miles on it since the 6.0, cam, pushrod swap. then he blew his rear end, and his head was leaking a little bit. now everything is up and ready to run except the sewing machine on crack noise. would 400 miles matter that much if he didn't get them all back in the same order which im sure he did put them all in right.
