I may replace the o-ring just for peace of mind, seems like the easiest thing to do.If I'm lucky it will fix it.
Thanks for all the feedback/info guys

I'm not ure about checking the lifters, but you can pull the valve covers and look at all the rockers when there is no pressure on the spring by wiggling them. If they wiggle more than it should, then chances are you got a rocker that let loose of it's needles. Maybe you can check the pushrods at the same tmie by making sure they are all tight. If one is bent excessivy it will be looser than the rest. I think you should be able to turn them with your fingers when there is no lift from the cam.

I bought my truck with 70,000 on it, it made the noise ever since I owned it. Always was concerned about the noise but never knew what to do about it. I noticed tonight, it had a little lifter noise when I first started it up after work (about 20 degrees +/-) nothing like it was though. What weight oil are you running? I use Rotella 15-40 and one quart STP every oil change.

I saw that smoke on the vid,I must be running pretty rich??
I'm going to drop the oil pan this weekend and replace the o-ring on the pick up tube. Maybe i'll get lucky.
What do I need to pull the pan?? Is the oil pan gasket reusable??

hope you get it sorted out.
