years ago they claimed no issues with temp being inclosed. however they are still a transformer/ballast as they do need air flow. sealing them with covers that dont have air circulation can lead to issues. As in later years coils started to come with heat sinks to help cool

also interesting that the company that said no issues is out of buisness today

All good points...I guess the only production covers u see are on the Vettes, and they're not enclosed. I saw a few options on Summit & Jegs, that were basically just shields over the top to hide them...maybe my firewall mounts arent so bad after all?

from what I understand abear sold off the rights to thier valve covers to a company interested in mass producing them. They posted this info on thier web page. Not sure if they are out of business.....maybe out of that business.

Mass production may just lead to a poor product, unless they monitor the quality closely. Just my thoughts. I guess we'll see.

When I bought mine (Abear), I was told the design was sold to a large manufacturer.

I have had no issues with coil malfunction due to heat. There is a vette that has well over 50K (2 years ago) with no issues as well. While in theory air circulation is ideal, I would imagine the delta from the enclosed covers to the top of the cover to be minor in terms of coil heat tolerability.

Well...I know the ABEAR one's were $600+ - and that seems awefully high. If I could just by a retrofit cover I'd hope to not have to spend more than $150...honestly tho, it'll come down more to whats available and how much that DumbAss Obama raises my taxes!

Spoolin has a set too I think - I've yet to hear anything bad from any buyers of those covers!

yes, the Abear stuff was expensive but if you have ever seen it it is high quality and looks great if you have the cash to spend.
