Ok as you all know, or now will know, my truck in in service for the 2nd time for tranny problems.
I called the dealership today and my service dude, told me they couldnt figure out why the clutches were burnt out again (the initial problem) so they called GM directly and they told them to replace the "valve body" is this the piece that is supposedly made of plastic from the factory, and once it screws up they replace it with a metal one? I read about something coming on the tranny that they end up replacing because it screws it up. You guys know if that's the piece or is it something different?

what was happening was my truck was getting stuck in 1st gear and would not shift to 2nd. the 1st time the clutches were burnt out. this time, the service guy said the same **** happened and GM (he said GM, guess they called manufacturer or something) and they told them to replace the valve body and the clutches again, then go from there. i called today and its not ready, but they work tomorrow so he said maybe it'll be ready by them.

Yeah the valve body is a 2" thick by about 10" square piece of cast iron with lots of solenoids and valves in it. What's your truck doing? I just had mine in the shop three times for the valve body cause it wouldn't down shift when I stopped. They told me that a piece of casting had came off and clogged it up. Then told me the replacement one (my second one)was bad and they had serveral bad ones floating around.
