Default Vacuum pumps on Engine

Has anyone ever used the engine driven Vacuum pumps, or electric?

My buddy took a engine down to a shop to get it dynoed for a guy. While setting everything up they got to talking and the owner/dyno operator (engine dyno) said he has seen up to 90FWHP gain with a engine driven Vac pump on BBC's..
Said he wanted to test one on a LS engine but hasnt yet.

Got me to wondering since ive never seen anybody on here run one. Seems if you could pull even .5# vac on the crankcase when WOT it would prolly make a difference?

I have been looking high and low for a vacuum pump that will work for me but unsure on which one will work and fit where I need it to fit. Only place for me is on the passenger side head. The pump im looking at is the gto kit from GZ Motorsports. I am needing it for crankcase evacuation as I am running boost. But like you said I have heard an increase in power is made because of the better seal on the rings.

On my buddy's 505 bbc, we hooked up a shop vac to help pull some vacuum and gained like 6rwhp or something like that. It was awesome

I wanted to hook up a cheap electric pump on mine when I had the nitrous on it. A lot guys used to do it and still do. like off a ford diesel or something like that

The PCV system is a vacuum pump of sorts, probably more so if you plug the passenger side valve cover. Seems like it could be harmful to the seals?

I figured 1 psi vacuum would be the ticket.. too much you might start sucking air past the seals?

If you plugged the passenger side and WOT your not gonna have too much vacuum, but at idle your gonna have alot

The vacuum pump works, whether it is electric or driven. Guys been using them for a bit on V twin harley set ups. I was actually thinking at some point to run a set to the headers on my truck, to draw CCP out. so yes I can believe the gains.
