Default Using stock trans cooler for engine oil cooler?

I know some of you have done this, but I didn't find much with a search. It is possible/safe to the use the stock transmission cooler to cool the engine oil instead? My factory trans cooler was removed when I did the T56 swap. Now that I'm going turbo soon I figure installing an engine oil cooler would be beneficial. Aftermarket is an option but the factory cooler would be a clean and cheap way to do it.

My main concern is whether or not the stock trans cooler can flow enough oil to prevent starvation. I am using a Melling high volume/high pressure pump. That doesn't mean the pump will over power the cooler, just as long as the engine isn't using oil faster than the pump/cooler can provide it, everything should be peachy.

If this is possible, and tips on what size line to run, -8AN (1/2")? And where can one find fittings to connect an AN line to the factory quick connect connections on the cooler?

Thanks!

I've never seen the factory 6L oil cooler or lines, so I don't have the slightest clue.

Is the 6L oil cooler in the the left side of the radiator? If so, that makes sense why I can't find any pics of it.

Nevermind, answered it myself:

So the trans lines that go into the right side are probably the same size as those that go into the left side. But that's a wild-*** guess. If so, then the trans oil cooler might be sufficient for the engine oil flow rate.

Regardless, I'm curious if the trans cooler has an alternate design of some sort which makes it less desirable as an engine oil cooler.
