Default upgrading a 4.3 liter vortec V6

hello everyone im new here trying to get some help. I have a 1996 GMC Sierra SLE c1500 pickup with a 4.3 L vortec v6. im trying to find ways of upgrading the horsepower and throttle response without rebuilding it or spending over a $1,000.00 any help is appreciated

Thats going to be a fun one.. I had to go search and see if anybody still made programmers/Chips for them.

Looks like Jet Programmer will work but dont expect a huge gain for the amount of money spent.

You could run 93 octane and put a 75 shot on it.
Ive only messed with a 4.3 in a 2001 S10 and we ended up putting a 125 shot on it after tuning it.

Weight reduction, 4.56 gears and a tune. It should move pretty good for a 4.3.
