Upgraded 4.8 or 6.0
#3
The amount of money it would take to get that 4.8 to the power levels of a 6.0 with heads, a cam, and long tubes, you will have bought a 6.0 almost twice. Buy a 6.0 or 6.2 and sell the 4.8.

I bought a GUARANTEED (fwiw) LQ9 not too long ago with just over 100k miles on it - just barely broken in - for $1500. Can you "upgrade" your 4.8 for that little? Heads? cam? turbo? blower? ???
Do the simple 2-column exercise. 4.8 in one column, 6.x in the other. List the advantages of each.
Torque... power... reliability at that power level... expense... difficulty... risk... down time... ???
Which one comes out on top?
"Sell" the 4.8 is probably not too much of an option. Nobody else wants one, for the same reasons you don't. But try, maybe somebody that just needs to get an old truck moving again, can use it.
You'll probably want headers, regardless.

absolutely an option. Guys like me want those for all sorts of car builds. $500 is $500, it's better than a kick in the teeth
