Since I'm getting the new intercooled magnacharger, should I get my tranny rebuilt and get a new one(Jet)? If anyone has rebuilt their tranny or got a new one please tell me what you think about yours, wether or not you like it. Also, I don't want nothing that shifts hard during regular driving.I will be getting a big B&M transmission cooler. Thanks in advance.

i just got an FLP tranny, it was highly recomended be many on this site. but it does shift hard ALL the time, i unhooked the vacume modulator to see if it was working and it shifted even harder so it is working but just shifts hard.
if you stop with the magna you can probably get a softer shifting tranny that will last, i called flp and they told me the biggest reason for the hard shift is the 1-2 servo, they put in a billet one that has more surface area so it shifts much harder but it also will hold alot more power. if you decide to continue with the mods after the magna you will probably be trading tranny life if you want to keep a soft shift.
mitch and chuck at flp were great to work with, when i told it shifts kind of hard he was concerened and ready to help me get it like i like it but told me it wont be quite as strong, i dicided to try and get used to it and i think i have. get that big cooler and your stock tranny may last for awhile.

How much did all that cost?(tranny+installation)
Besides the hard shifts, have you had any problems out of it?

LOTS!! but they all cost alot, their level IV was $1600, that is what most people get i upgraded and got the "5 pinion sprages", that is the part that makes it a 4L65E i guess, that was another $360. add $150 shipping and the total is around $2100. i put it in myself but it seems like it is around $300 for install for a 4wd. a 2wd should be less.
no problems, it is great, "fast and firm" shifts. i got it when they said i would and it was the right one. just for a comparison i tried to order one from speed inc. they told me 10 days, it was more like 20+days, they told me they would cover shipping and later tried to charge me shipping, they knew it was a 4wd but somehow sent me a 2wd after all that i returned it and they didn't credit my acount the right amount so i had to call them on that. from what i understand that isn't the norm for speed inc, i seem to be the only one that has ever had a problem with them. FLP seems alot easier to get ahold of and they don't have a confrontational attitude like i was geting from speed inc.

**** I wished I had been on ls1tech.com when I got my tranny rebuilt. I spent about $1400 on a rebuild. The rebuild parts have to be better than stock. I dont think they have my valve body just right but it has lasted longer and put up with more abuse than the from the factory. Reminds me of NAM.

FLP, level 10 and many other reputable trans shops exist but they nearly all charge from 1500-2000 for a performance rebuild. If you are looking to do some of your own work here's a place to start...(from a previous post)
The Transgo "reprogramming kit" is complete and an excellent kit but some of the mechanical components just can't take the elivated stress.
There are a few ways to go to increase the strength of the tranny. One is a 200R4 internals conversion (I think this is what Yank does for their 4L70) or more recently the aftermarket has provided much more 4L60E specific replacment parts. These are some replacement parts I've been collecting for my trans rebuild (thanks Ken):
Thunderbolt servo has 35% more holding power than the good ol' Corvette servo.
High performance overdrive billet servo. Has 50% more holding power than the stock overdrive servo making extra firm 3-4s. Good for towing in overdrive or vehicles geared to pass through the traps in OD.
29 element Borg Warner forward input sprag with double cage construction.
Raybestos Pro Series High Energy Kevlar Bands.
Raybestos Blue Plate Special 6 count 3-4 clutch set.
Extreme Duty front and rear planets with 5 (2002 GM type) pinion gears which are 25% stronger than the old type. Get the hardened outside planet ring gears while your att it too.
Extreme Duty reaction carrier shaft. Has an aftermarket shell and allows the entire rebuild to take place without thrust washers.
Hardened input shaft and drum assembly plus a hardened reaction shell and bearing. They are rated to withstand over 600 ft-lbs.
Replace the OEM plastic thrust washer with a roller thrust bearing to reduce heat but you are going to need a specially machined and hardened rear planetary inner race to complete the assembly.

"Parish does you truck Chirp the 1-2 shift how about the 2-3 shifts

i have the stock firestone tires on there and it is prety much winter here(dirty roads) so no "chirping" going on, i can fry the tires and don't really hear much. i am prety sure it is turning them over at any shift where i am at over 1/4 throttle.

Wow, thanks for all that info guys. Thank you all very much. I think I'm going to just buy a few parts at a time and then, have them all installed once I get all of them. It'll save me a little bit of money <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
