Default Upgrade on truck 6.0

I'am going to purchase a chevy 2500hd crew cab with the 6.0. I think it is crazy how the 5.3 is rated at 295hp and 330lbs torque while the 6.0 only has 300hp and 360 lbs of torque. So finally my question is, what bolt on and internal mods can be made to get more power out of the 6.0? What kind of gains and how much? Thanks!!!

The LQ4 has 325HP and the LQ9 has 345HP, so I think the source of your numbers is off.

The 5.3 and LQ4 have completely different torque curves. The truck 6.0 is cammed and flowed for towing and has a flatter curve.

Compare 2000 RPM for example:

According to the chevy catalog i have in my hand it says the vortec 6000 v8 has 300hp and 360 lbs of torque. Maybe CA restricts the motor? Anyways what are some good mods to do to this engine?

Besides more power for the denali?

Maybe nothing....maybe the differences are in the exhaust and programming. I would think if it was a different intake, it would have to be called a different motor. But what do I know...

Is there cam that you can put in the motor that will not be to agressive but increase hp and torque? Also are the 4l803 transmission in the truck pretty strong? Is exhuast worth getting on this motor. What are the best bolt on mods also? Thanks and sorry all the questions!

the 6.0 is definitely underrated. No way in hell the 6.0 only has 5 less HP

From what I understand the 6.0 really comes to life after a good tune. Guys that are getting a Nelson Tune for their 6.0s are really saying WOW after he tunes it.
