but seriously... i can understand why you all are wondering why i would drop money on something that if it even helps will only help at .2 tenths at best? Well the fact of the matter is that I have a fresh sub 30k mile ls1 short block sitting in front of me as i type, i am researching a mild set of heads and cam that will get me into the 12's easily in a 4300lb truck w/ the ls1.... so trust me, I know what my best bang for the buck is when it comes to mods. Hell all this time and money wasted on this truck i could have turboed the stupid ls1 and built the hell out of it and probably running 10's by now, lol. But thats not how it happened.

My goal for this particlar setup, bc you always have to have goals, is to have this 4.8l make it to the 12's n/a and be daily driveable (meaning, i didnt do some stupid weight reduction to it to get it into the 12's). I have always been faster everytime to the track and ive been racing this pos for 7 years, its been daily driven for all those 7 years and has over 140k miles on the clock. This motor has been paired with 4 diff. transmissions and 3 different rear end, its been beat on pretty good. So i'm wanting to try that one last bolt on i never did just to see what happens.

that a boy joe. there is no need for people to argue with proven facts. im in the same boat as you (minus an ls1 in front of me) and any little tenth will help come closer to a rarely reached goal. it obviously doesnt hurt anything on a sound vehicle so why not do it.

2 tenths eh? Well if you're running consistent 14.1's and trying to break into the 13's that wouldn't be too bad.

how about the powerbond that sdpc sells with the belts and bolt for 209 free shipping? I hear they are more of a pia to get off than the stocker.

just read that powerbond makes the SLP pulley, so they are the same. Good reviews of the powerbond on vette forums.

hopefully we can get some weather like i did last time... -200 to 0 da would be nice so i can get a good comparison.

and right... with probably only like $200 more than the udp's i could get a set of stock heads and get someone to work them and pickup about the same. (which is the next thing btw... trying to figure out if i should just get some 5.3 tea heads, anything's better than what i got really).

I'll know by the end of the week if my gas mileage is slightly better... i doubt it will be much better tho.
when are you going to the track?

Just got back. Really long day... 4 hrs driving today

Ran freaking awesome. UDP is the only thing ive changed, didnt even touch the tune. Ran a 13.2@99.82 mph. Previous best was a 13.3 however that was on a 1.67 60ft... today the 13.2 was on a worse 60ft (1.82)... so if i can get back to the 1.6's or hell even the 1.7's this proves that the udp (in at least my application) helped approx 2/10ths like everyone has said.

I still have the front bumper and sway bar on the front and i can take the seat out and some other interior stuff. If i can get this down to 4000lbs w/ driver and 60ft, I might see some 12's... its all "if if if" right now.. but hopefully i can make it happen. I've been on a streak for 3 years running, everytime i go the track it picks up

Mileage-wise. On the way home, all interstate, I picked up almost 1 mile to the gallon which is pretty awesome. And we were running about 80-90mph the whole time, lol.
