Not to butt in on the pulley thread but,

Are you saying a 160* thermostat is bad????

 

I'm going on a memory in aviation school when we had a conversation about metal wear and operating temp in a recep engine. In these engines, it may also play a factor of how the engine uses timing with the pcm.

 

Called around to ask about pulleys. Futral sells underdrive pulleys for $219 (4.8, 5.3, 6.0) motors. I was told that alt pulleys are a waste, due to slowing the generator down, resulting in low volts. You can run the UD pulleys w/o the alt pulley.

That's what I plan to do.
