I'm realling thinking LS6 now and less lift/bolt ons.

Is the Ls6 a direct swap? Anyone running one? I'm really thinking LS6 + small cam + intake + clean up heads.

This is quiet a project and just about the ONLY part of it that is ready to go is the financial aspect of it. Still trying to do something cool, original and worthwhile. Boost sounds cool but the blatent homosexuality of the 4.8 can ruin anything.

i think a 6.0 will pull harder(or at least as hard) in a truck and certainly cost alot less.

if your not going to spray it or boost it a built 4l60e will hold.

the set up you are talking about seems like it would be cool in a RCSB 2wd. something with less weight and some potential for handeling well.

It's a fine idea if you are content with spending a bunch of money and only ending up with 380rwhp at best LOL

There is really nothign original about it either. There are soooo many LSX swaps in just about every car imaginable. turbo's maybe be quickly becoming commonplace on this forum but on the street in anytown USA you WILL be the exotic one

I'd still go with a 6.0L swap but the LSX swap does look pretty cool.

::raises hand::

Well, at least half way. The LS1 is in the truck, and the 80 is in the garage.

I like my LS1. I'm especially happy with the gas mileage--it actually went UP versus the 4.8. The 6.0L is cool, but I love tellin' people that I swapped a Vette motor in my pick-em-up truck.

And, how many cam-only 6.0L's are trapping 101?

Hahaha you better go look at the f-body and y-body part of this forum. LS1s are making way more than 380rwhp!

That's b/c you got more power at the same RPM range. Don't ya just love how more power yields more fuel economy via efficiency!

Now go stick one of those motors in a truck with more drivetrain loss and get back to me again.

I've done the whole heads/cam LS1 bit. (check my sig) I also have 89 members in my LS1 car club. I know what the average #s are and what the really high tweaked #s are. The average for a heads/cam CAR is 390-410rwhp. For a tweaked setup you're talkin 420-435.

Do you mean a 4wd or just a truck in general? I'm VERY happy with my setup, which is a stock LS1 with just a TR224 cam and bigger injectors. It's not even tuned yet.

In the 4x4 for sure. But in general I don't think you'll see the typical 400rwhp that the F-bods see. Even Y-bodies don't see that much HP from heads/cam unless they have one of the high $ kits.

But whatever, I am not syaing you can't be happy with that motor. I'm just saying don't expect 400-430rwhp without other mods and serious tuning.
