Default Turbo tune VS. Blower Tune???

Well my good friend is installing a whipple on his truck with a 5.3. He is also using my old 42 lb. injectors. Instead of using the whipple electronics we wanted to put in my turbo tune in his truck. How close would the tune be for the blower application???? I have HPT but we our knowledge is very limited on tuning. Any ideas???? without ordering a tune???

as long as you have the correct devices to monitor/log the tune while you drive it... i would say try it. would give you a close, ballpark tune to start with.

hook up a wideband, lower the timing down to a safe level to start with, monitor for KR under heavy throttle, and go from there.

i would probably start with 16 degrees of timing or so at WOT on a stock 5.3 with SC... and see where his A/FR is while cruising/ under throttle.

just go slow with it and be safe.

cool thanks, yeah this is an old tune of mine with less timing and more fuel. Not nearly as agressive as my more recent tunes.

as long as he is a little rich for the SC, with lower timing, he will be fine. i would shoot for around 11.7-11.9 AFR at WOT. that will probably be a little rich, but safe.

keep his timing down around 16-17 and you should be very safe until he can get it to a pro tuner or dyno.

11.7-11.9 seems kind of lean to me???? I Like to keep mine in the low 11's.

I'm with you. High 11s is starting to push the envelope.
