Default Turbo guys out there, and stock injectors....

At what point are the stock injectors, and fuel system done? I am upgrading my truck for HAULING purposes . 3.73 or 4.10's Built 4l60 or 4l80 and a turbo, but stock 5.3. At what power levels are the stock injectors maxed out, as well as the fuel pump. What injecctors and pump, and tuning are you guys stepping up to???? Remember,. this is a tow vehicle....looking for @ 8-10 lbs of boost, stock bottom end (cam change will take place though) stock heads and sstock intake. Any suggestions on injectors, or will I be good to go with those mods above??? Thanks

Better go to 43lb injectors for 8-10 psi! Your pretty much done at 5-6psi with stock injectors.

Thanks for the tips guys. TGO2Z71, how has your stock rear end held up? Have you abused it much? I plan on hauling @ 6500 LBS on a regular basis, and going to swap my 3.23's for a set of 4.10's, but still thinking that the rear end is wimpy. You have any problems with it? I wanted to swap in a 3/4 1 ton rear, but forgot about the 8 lug so out goes that.

My stocker was an open rear end. I replaced it about a month or so ago with an Eaton unit with the stock ring and pinion being re-used.
There were signs of impending doom on the peg legger. Probably would have lasted another month keeping my foot out of it.

You guys pretty happy with the STS turbo? How soon does it come on, as far as turbo lag? I am needing it down low, for the hauling that I am doing.

When towing the turbo will spool quicker because you have a higher load on the motor so it will be pushing more exhaust flow through the turbo. You will also see higher intakes temp as well because you will be in the boost more often. An intercooler will be a must for you. The lag is minimal really, when downshifting at certain speeds the power can be a little hairy under certain curcumstances, it comes on hard and will give you great torque for pulling.
There is a disclaimer in the STS kit saying its not recommended for towing, but all semi trucks have turbos on them as well as superchargers! I think they are just covering their buts a little so they don't get blamed for issues some people may have.
Oh ya, one added benifit of being " under load" you will see an increase in gas mileage as well. I get between 17-18.5mpg when I drive more aggressively. The turbo likes the load!

Love mine. I added a small IC on mine which helped out on the IAT's. I've been towing a 8500# 5th wheel for over a year with no issues except for the clogged cats. And get 14-14.5 mpg towing 70 mph.

For towing DEFIANTELY get a intercooler. It is not an option in my opinion. LOL

You might check what the turbo diesel guys use for gearing because turbos generally do better with less gear.

have any of you guy looked at using a gear vender or us gear, instend of swopping to lower gears? Us gear has an underdrive unit. It is rated for 12000 lds and would doulble the gears you have. Your 4 speed auto would now be an eight speed.
