Truck won't start??
#1
I am new to this forum. I did a search and found next to nothing. I have a 2002 2500HD with the 6.0l. A few days ago I came out from work started it and started leaving the parking lot and it just shut off. No SES (Service Engine Soon) light or anything. It took about 10-12 tries to start again, it would just crank over. So it starts and I head home about 20 min drive and I get near home and stop for milk. I come out of the store it starts then shuts off when I go to pull out. This time it fires right back up. So I take it to work the next day. Had no problems. So then friday I take it to work. Come out from work and it won't start. I notice the SES light stays on while cranking this time. So I get a ride home and plan on calling GM roadside in the morning. First I decide to go check on it and it starts right up. No more SES light. Any ideas before I take to the dealer tommorrow morning? I hate to go in blind, not having a clue.

I had a similar problem in a previous truck - ford - I think it was the Ignition Control Module or something like that.........might not relate to GM's tho. It would just die out of nowhere while driving and sometimes take 5 tries or so to crank over

I would take it in and tell them to fix it. It's under warranty and you don't have any mods on it, so let them deal with it.
If it were me though, I would check all the engine connectors and make sure they are all good.

Well I called GM roadside and had it towed to the dealer yesterday cause it wouldn't start again. I just called the dealer and they said they were just pushing it into the shop but think it probably is going to need a fuel pump.
Is this a common problem?

If this a diesel it would be the PMD I have a 95 chev diesel that had that prob too but it happen after 200,000 miles.
GM wil not have any thing on it untill they look at it and if you have to buy it it will cost you about 400.00 it controls a lot of the engine sensors, injector pump, throttle, ses, ctc.[PMD=pump mounted driver .
