I just hate when someone comes along and says, Hypertech sucks, get a Nelson tune!....and their **** is runnin' like 15.9's or something. My truck gained a WHOLE second from the Hypertech and the Yank TT3000, no ****.

I feel ya on that and i believe it

You must be a hateful person these days ...but
the birds will always sing praises as long as theres a stock detuned
vehicle out there

I have no experience with the hpp3 but I will say from my experience
with the mail order tune
if you plan on better than 14.25 in a rcsb5.3 with hdrs cam ex p373 and TC
you just as well stick it on a dyno
where the person tuning it can actually know and see what the vehicle is doing so he can make the proper corrections

not just throw alot of timing at it and dump the fuel in it so it wont knock
thats too hit or miss for me plus it ran like sh*t

If i knew then what i know now Id have that 500 towards some 16x10s and tires
instead of wasting it

oh well you live and learn
I guess I would have been OK if I left my truck alone and hadnt have got the cam and the stall

Would i loose some power like from 30MPH with a stall converter? I've heard that from several people.

You will not lose power anywhere at all with a stall converter. An aftermarket performance converter is smaller and lighter than a stock converter, will not do anything other than help the truck make power...although it will eat up tires!

I'm only like 3 tenths off those times with NO headers and stock cam...in an extended cab truck. Another guy around here has gone 14.68 with a STOCK rcsb truck. I'm sure that his truck with the few mods that I have would run in the 13's. I barely beat a stock rcsb truck on the street myself, and even though I spun, once it did hook I barely pulled him. Are you talking about a 2wd rcsb 5.3, cause I would think that one with those mods (cam, headers, converter, exhaust, etc.) would run a little better than 14.25, at least around here (at sea level) it would.

Do NOT get a stall without a posi. Trust me, it is a waste of money without you a posi or locker.

AFAIK most people recommend that you get a trans cooler with a stall as well. Something else to add to your planning.

You need a posi or a locker with a stall because you wont be getting any traction without it.. I am running my stall with the stock 3.42 peg leg and i have to feather it off the line to keep from spinning.. cant wait till my 4.10's get in..
