I wish i could be diaging gm all day, at least when they have issues its not a snowball that you have to oush back up the hill to find the route cause of the problem....

Wont be able to pull it until tomorrow. Lets say that I do and that noise is still there. How would I go about checking the rest?

Id say pull converter bolts (pita i know but) and start it and see if it goes away... But, really think its in accessory drive, and transferrring through block sounding further back....

I strongly believe it something attached to the main drive. Usually the power steering pump. its also possible to have a bearing fail in the alternator as well.

some of the more common things are a leak that allows air into the pump and cause it to whine.

when they are low on fluid they will aerate the fluid and do the same thing. also when the fluid get dirty you get alot of build around the suction side the pump strains to suck the fluid through and you start getting a whine.
