Default Truck Intake versus LS6 question

Couldn't find anything under search function.

How do the truck intakes flow compared to what the car guys are using (LS6, LSX, etc.)? I assume they have more volume, but do truck guys swap intakes just for better flow?

Yes the LS6/LSx intakes flow much better than the truck intakes. Our longer runners do allow for more lowend torque but the guys here with built motors, heads/cam, etc are swapping thier intakes for more flow up top and compensating on the bottom with gears or converters.

That's what I was wondering...thanks. Guess if you get a Radix (sp?) this becomes a non-issue?

i dont really know much, but i was wondering if the ls6 intake would be a direct bolt on to a 2000 4.8 truck

the LS6 intake runners are only 1mm longer than the truck intake runners, the plenum is bigger though, and the design of the intake allows for a higher velocity intake charge at higher rpm's.....no-one has yet to prove that the LS6 intake makes better torque than the truck intake though

I did a swap from a truck intake to an LS1 intake and I saw NO difference in performance below 4500rpms...above that the airflow was greatly improved and the truck pulled MUCH harder to 5500....the only reason I swapped back is because I don't have f-body injectors yet and the ls1 intake with truck injectors and modified truck fuel rails kinda looked stupid....and the alternator bracket with the relocated idler pulley was kinda hacked together (I don't have a MIG welder so I had to bolt the new plate into place and I didn't like the look of it)

the reason I mentioned my swap is because the reason people swap from LS1 intakes tio LS6 intakes is to gain the high-end airflow that the LS6 intake is capable of.....unless you are going to put a cam in to take advantage of the airflow stick with the truck intake....it'll flow all you can use for normal driving

If somebody could supply a alternator bracket with the required mods to the idler pulley, I would be all over it and do this swap on our 6.0L(I have an LS6 intake). I guess it won't really matter once I go to the Radix, but I am surprised there isn't a vendor offering the mod'd bracket.

I didn't take any pics because the install wasn't done right RIGHT (it was more of a weekend-with-nothing-to-do project)....as soon as I get all the correct parts and do the install RIGHT I will be posting the complete install with pics here

The alternator bracket needs the idler pulley moved over and down about 3" to clear the TB...the stock TB will work fine...you need to get a belt that is about 6" longer to connect it all together too
