Lightnings are FAMOUS for blowing out plugs.
Guy I know had his do the same thing they had to put new heads on it. I heard some 03 Cobras are having problems with valves sealing like they are supposed to. Is that FORD KWALITY or what?

not sure about 99 and 00, but the 01 and 02 L's had 4 threads holding in the plugs. And they are hardly ever torqued down to spec from the factory. Heard of many blowing them out. problem is fixed for 03 L's - I think they have 9 threads holding them in. Not sure how the truck would catch on fire tho? Unless it shot out and damaged the fuel rail or something ?
