Default Trex V2 in my truck.....

im currently looking for a good H/C setup for a Lq4 thats going to be going in my RCSB sierra id say around 4300#'s
im looking for a mid low 12 out of it...im looking at getting a set of patriot ls6 style stage 2's, from the many searches ive made it seems like this is the head to run for some good compression with out milling and sacraficing clearance for a big cam.so i want to run the trex cam.... how would this big cam act in my 6.0 ive heard the more cubes the better...ill be running a 3600 stall. and support it with LT's, intake ect... i just want to know if im way off in my decision for my application, i plan to spray into the 11's with a 125 shot.
also if i were to run this cam with these heads what else would i need as far as valve train and other parts required for this setup.....first time doing heads and cam on anything....

i saw your post in the other forum and i got to thinking about it. I think the t-rex is a pretty big cam even in a 383 stroker for a heavier than f-body application. I think something in the 230 range would be a little better. what about a 228/228 or for the juice maybe a 230/228 or something.

does this sound a little better? 230/236 .590/.598 112 LSA im just worried i wont make enough power through a 4l80...everyone keeps telling me its the evil power sucking SOB...i dont mind revving it a little and ill match the stall to the cam with about 3400-3600 stall..

i believe that the 80e does suck some power but not a whole lot. my cam is in my sig and i love it. i think it would come alive in a 6.0. but hey who knows.

LM7....

What type of rpm range are you looking for? That setup could use some work. Big cams and Big heads don't need to go together for a nasty-street setup.

Don't use Patriot's! I've heard to many horror stories about them. It sounds like since Terry or whoever it was left, they have gone to poop from the general consisus. THe whole head debate is like a soap opera to be truthful abou tit. I know if I were getting a set of heads for my motor, it would be AFR's without springs, and get a set of 921's to put on them.

I think with a fat enough converter, that TRex would be sweet. It would need to be in a forged bottom end though. You can't be scared to wrap it up either. I bet it would pull every bit up to 7500 in a 5.7 with the compression bumped, maybe 7000 in a 6.0.

AFR's have a thicker deck than GM cast heads. The 205 heads will have a considerable amount more than any GM cast head. The 225's may not though because they use some HUGE valves. I would call Terry at AFR and talk with him. He's pretty sharp on the subject, and doesn't get caught up in the gossip as much as some other do I think.

I don't think it will be all that noticeably different than what it's rated for in the 5.7L.

My little stick lights up about about two hundred RPM sooner than it's rated for on the bottom end, but that's about it...
