Transmission. . .no reverse on auto 99' 5.3 P/U
#1
Hey guys this is my first post and this problem has got me really worried. I have a newer body style 99' chevy 5.3 Z71. When I was at the bank tonight, I put my truck in reverse and it just revved up, no movement or anything. My brother and I had to get out and push it back. In addition, as I am driving I find that the tranny will not shift unless it is over 3 rpm and I take my foot completely off the gas; then it will abruptly shift gears. It just seems very unstable at this point. My truck is bone stock for the exception of a billet grille, escalade gauge cluster, clear bumper lights and projector HID headlights. I also have an extended warranty up to 100K mi. My first question would be, what do you guys thing the diagnosis is? Secondly, would my current modifications possibly void my warranty? thanks for all your help,
Rob

Just have it towed to the dealer, or whoever is covering the warranty. You tranny is shot.
The only thing they may question is the mileage on the cluster.

They can pull the engine hours off the PCM, so the cluster should not be an issue. Use yor extended warranty. How many mile do you have on it?

It could have overheated, low on ATF, etc.
Hell it could be one of the shift solenoids on the valve body too! The converter could have fallen apart. Pump failure...

if the shift solinoid was blocked he should have gotten an error code. I had that happed to me, he converter wouldn't lockup and no first gear. Let it sit over night and everything worked fine. Kinda weird, I am going to pull it and go through it with a friend that is a tech for a local dealer.
