Transgo and Small Converter Questions

I was told by a guy the other day that the shift kit will affect the durability of the tranny. He said that it restricts oil to the bands to produce a harder shift and that reduced oil will cause more friction and make everything hot inside and affect the durability of the tranny. I thought that slow, rolling shifts were bad for the transmission and that the harder it shifts the less stress on the bands? Is he right?
Also I'm conisidering a small stall (2500). I have read the posts regarding the tranny getting hot and not lasting. I will get a cooler to help but will this small stall still make my tranny too hot? And will it effect the life of the transmission?
A few tenths from the converter is not worth blowing the tranny, but I figure since its not much higher than the stock one then I'll be ok.
Anyone think I will run into problems? THanks <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />

as far as i know a shift kit will improve tranny life by keeping the clutches from slipping during granny shifts. now i'm sure if you get TOO fast it'll hurt it but i think yur fine.
and you got the 100,000 mile warranty, if the tranny goes to **** jerk everything off and get a new one <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

As far as shift kits go...how they restrict, I don't know. Since evry modification you do OPENS up passageways it simpley acclerates a solenoid effect on the valvebody. It is true that increased line pressure is the key to firmer shifts but firmer shifts don't necessarily mean more wear and tear. Actually I'd say its a different kind of wear. Instead of having your typical failure which is due to loss of friction material resulting in poor shift engagement or slipping you will tend to have more mechanical wear broken parts. While neither is desirable (who wants anything to fail) one will during its life provide better performance.
Heat will kill any tranny...Do anything you can to keep your fluid cool and you can extend your transmissions life. I run a extra capacity deep aluminum pan, a large trans cooler (in addition to the factory radiator heat exchanger AND oe external cooler)not to mention I run electric fans with nearly 50% more cfm pull than the OE thermal clutch. I have with less than 25K on the odometer done 3 complete fluid changes with filters and am still running hard.
