Trans?!?! Why Me!
#11
I called trasgo and one guy said there was no difference between the HD and other kits, just the HD doesnt come with the video or something, and the other kit is for 'do it yourselfers' - didnt make much sense to me....but thats what he said
Mine was slipping in and out of OD about 300 miles after the Transgo, aluminum accumulator pistons and a sevo release check valve were installed.....it only happened once for about 15 minutes then went away, like there was something in there that just got binded up and later fixed itself.....its been fine now for about 500 miles

Mine did that exact same thing on the 3-OD-3 a few days after installing my transgo. I just let it be and it cleared itself up. I am assuming some trash got in the valve body from the install. I guess it flushed thru and I havent had a problem since.
The 2-1 problem may be atributed to band clearance. The shims mentioned earlier are the ones that go in the 1-2 servo on the pass side of the tranny. You do not need these if you have a fairly new tranny in good condition. If you installed one or both of these spacers, you band may be catching when not in 2nd gear. Usually you notice it not releasing in 3rd which is were it would bog the motor not in 2nd.

Anyone know how to check band clearance and how to adjust it? I did not put any spacers in the servos, because I did not what it to shift too hard. I have noticed that it releases werid though.
As far as the OD thing, I will just drive around for a little more this week to see if it clears up.

It tells you in the TransGo instructions how to check the band clearance. Basicly you use a long screwdriver to move the band lateraly on the drum. If it is too tight, it will not move.
I believe you are refering to washers in the 1-2 accumulator. The spacers in question here are about 3" in diameter and go in before installing the 1-2 servo in the side of the tranny on the pass side.

OK! Drove the truck to work and back, took the highway, and the trans seems to be fine now! WTF! I am not complaining. Maybe it was just a particle working its way threw the valve body. I am not worried any more.
