Default Which trans?

alright, my radix kit should be arriving any day now , after the radix my funds are limited. heres my question, shift kit, servo, and 3000stall in my 4l60e?(will it blow?) or 4L80e with stall & shift kit? i can get my hands on the 4L80e for free (uncle wrecked his truck)(50k miles on it).

I know the 80 weighs more and has a taller first gear, will that hurt my times that much? i would like to stay with the 60 but i don't want it to blow either.

thanks for the input.

If you can get the tranny for free then definately take it. you can use the saved money for a stall and you wont even notice 1st gear (at least that much )

i vote for the 80 too, geting the tranny free is a big plus. you will be money ahead by going with the 80 since all you need is a shift kit and stall.

it will be a little more work to get in there and cost a few bucks but no where near the price of a built tranny.

Do it before you EAT the 4L60E and you can sell that for enough to get the converter and other parts needed!

thats exactly what i was thinking. how much could i sell a 4L60e with 4200 miles on it? (motor only has headers right now so the tranny hasn't been abused)

The wire harness comes from www.speartech.com.

The spacer you can get from the dealer.
