Default Tranny questions about the 4l80e!!!????

What do i need to make this happen!!!I have a 5.3 ECSB truck with the 4l60e!! I'm gonna boost like crazy and need a trans that will hold none the less tranfer power efficiently. What is needed for me to do this swap over to the 4l80e with the 5.3 block still in it!!! thanks for your help!

4L80E and efficient don't belong in the same sentence....lol.

I would stick with the 4L60E as long as you possibly could, until it is a must to do the swap.

I did the 6.0 / 4L80 swap, and it wasn't all that difficult.
BUT, I can tell you that the 4L80 drains power.
However, in my case, it will be needed with the forged 408 in the works now, which will in the future have a turbo. (Until the turbo, I'm just takin' the easy route and going 300 shot direct port)

Also, the gearing in the 4L80 kinda sucks, IMO.
I went ahead and put a 4.10 in the rear to try and make up for first gear.

for what you are doing it's a must sooner or later, why wastte the money. when you blow up the 5.3 I am sure the next will be a forged 6.0 or 408. so it's not a bad deal. I know the cross member has to be modified or get one from a 1500 hd I think.

i wouldn't spend 1cent on that 4l60e.

swaping in the 4l80e isn't all that hard and it will hold more power(in stock form) than the best built 4l60e.

here is a swap page for a 4wd, it has alot of the info you need. >> http://www.neufamily.org/4l80e/4l80swap.html
