The scratching 1-2 can be fatal to your tranny if your getting good traction and decent power. That's what destroyed my $1800 tranny in the black truck. It was a brutal shift!

The guy built it with kevlar clutches, blue plaate steels, hardened parts throughout, 2 washers and the billet servos. It sheared the input shaft at the drum and FUBARed everything from there back.

That should work .. you may like the 1 washer a little better though.

NO washer, don't do it. You have smaller tires than I do and I can still bark my 285 A/T's at WOT on a 1-2. It is more than enough...and I had the smaller holes drilled too. You can choose from normal to full race. hahaha.

You could also get a used PI Vig converter, get it restalled, and for $385 more be a multidisc lockup clutch and should still have full towing capacity...

Exactly, you gotta drop the pan for the servo install to check 2-4 band clearance...do them both at the same time.

OH I almost forgot...I had that single washer in there for a while and at like 3500rpms it would bark the tires. Removed it and the 1-2 harshness was relieved.

Also...I had TqMgt fully removed from my trans. Removing that is hard to explain. Before it felt like it wanted to hesitate on the shifts...now they are nice and quick.

99silver5.3 hasn't had TqMgt for around a year now also...

The TQM will make it feel like it noise dives after the shift.

With the verter only in there and full TQM the bigger verter plays hell on the PCM. From what I can gather is the PCM thinks the tranny is slipping after the shift so it will delay adding full timing back for about a second and a half at worst. I've seen it pull timing from about 24-25* to -10 during the shift and then hold about 8* for a second or so and jump from there to 18* and then gradually rise back up to 24. That causes for some really finky feeling shifts. It feels like you let off during the shift, give it a little throttle after the shift, wait a second or 2 and return to where the throttle was before the shift. It's hard to explain really .. but I know the bigger verter made it very noticable.

What rear end do you have and tire size? That will play a big role in how hard it will shift too.

well i have all the washers in mine and it will bark the tires at half throttle. at full throttle it will bark the tires slightly.(i feel this has to do with the tune that i got. i think allen changed the way it shifts and i love it. nice little set-up driving around town and then when its time to play i dont get the bad tire spin.) barking the tires at wide open throttle will only hurt you with your times, if you can set it up to where it would just launch you at WOT at your 1-2 shift, it would be best. mine was so bad that i was losin .5 of a sec on my times at the 1/4. also just my opinion. if you are going to go with all that you said. it would be advisable(in my opinion, speaking from experiance and two transmissions later.) to have the trans rebuilt. the first thing thats gonna go on you is gonna be the stock sun shield. this is what happened to the last two trans that i blew up. sun shield went and it dominoed from there. now i have a beefed up trans that pulls like a raped aped. no torquemanagement is also nice. the shifts are clean and quick. it just keeps pulling, never nose dives. you would have to ride in one to really feel how great it is.
oh BTW i am runnin a beefed up trans with a heavy duty TCI servo, and a HD2 TransGO Reprogrammable shift kit
it rocks!!!!
