Im not sure of your mechanical abilities or what you have to spend, but I think an 80 would be serious overkill. Get a built FLP 65. Of course, if you have some ability, the 80 conversion could be less $$$. In that case I would go for it.

I would really like to get a new tranny but Im not sure I can fit it in my budget any time soon. Maybe I will try to get a loan

get in touch with Rock On transmissions in Denton/Krum Texas. Ask for Dave and tell hime Jerry sent ya. He will shoot ya straight and help get ya in a good tranny.
