Angry Cam is in..but no idle

Ok, I finally got the cam, springs and pushrods in. Now it wont idle by it self. If I slowly let off the gas it might idle. When it does, it idles about 500 rpm but as soon as you cut it off it wont start up and idle again. I let the truck completly warm up while it was idling. The cam is the Comp 212-218-522-529 114. I got this cam because it did need the PCM programed to use the cam. Any help is greatly needed!!
Im driving our service truck right now which is cool but im ready to get mine back on the road.

I'm sure the cam experts will chime in, but I think some guys with larger cams drill a small hole in the throttle body blade to get a little more air.....

It's not going to idle all by itself. I had the same cam installed in my 5.3 and had to raise the idle using the screw in the tb to make it to Allens place where I got the tune. You might want to try using this if a custom tune is not in your immediat plans.

if you dont plan on gettin tuned, open the TB blade somewhat with the set-screw, and reset TPS by unpluggin the TPS sensor... turn IGN on for 20 seconds or so, turn off IGN, plug it back in, then turn it on the truck.

If that dosent work, drill the TB hole out a little larger. Keep in mind the more air you get in, the greater the chance of you getting the cruise control effect.

I have the predator tuner but I was wanting to stay away from the custom tune for now. I'll try to open the throttle plate a bit. How is the axcess to the throttle screw? Ive never paid any attention to them. Got any idea what size drill bit to use if all else fails?? Thanks for the help so far!!

i have been looking at the comp cams for my self, the .522 / .529 needed the 918 springs for lift but i don't recall that it needed the new pushrods or a computer tune to make it work.

the one i picked out was the .525 / .532 and a set of springs, it did state that computer tuning on this cam was required to make it work but i did not need a new set of pushrods.

on the bigger cams it was required to have the 918 springs, the new pushrods, and what rocker that was needed for the cam to work right, and a computer tune.

i'll check on this cam again but i think it was made to work with your stock rods and rockers, only the springs need to be changed.

The TB set screw is under the plate that holds up the throttle opening thing (connected to the TB wire). I havent tuned mine yet either, but we had to make like 5 half turns to get it to idle and now have a cruise control affect. You'll see what Im saying. The cam made a huge difference and I havent even tuned it yet. I also havent upped the timing since the alky was installed so Im hoping to see huge improvements with a good tune.

comp cam grind # ls1xr265hr 54-412-11
no computer tuning needed
no new pushrods needed
no new rocker arms needed
no new lifters needed

Recommended Valve Springs 941-16

i say do a cam break in, let run for a few minutes at 1500 to 1800 rpms and see what happens after that.

I put that cam in my SS and it ran fine without a tune. I would look for a vacume leak. I don't think it's the tune, although a tune would be a big improvement to the performance.
