trailblazer I6 converter installed

Default trailblazer I6 converter installed

I drove my truck for the first time since getting the trailblazer converter installed. The truck will now brake stall to 2500-2550 rpm's in 4hi compared to 1700 rpm's with the stock converter.
The trailblazer convertor is much looser than stock. It seems to keep the engine more into the torque curve. Rpm loss between shifts is quite a bit less.
Driveability is effected moderately, however I am sure once I get used to it, there will be little to no adverse affects.
The install was a direct swap according to my mechanic. If anyone has questions I will do my best to answer them.
The truck now launches considerably harder!

good job, did you do a shift kit while you were having it done?

yes I had a transgo shift kit, vette servo, seperator plate, and an aluminum accumulator piston along with the converter. It shifts very hard 1-2, and firm 2-3

so far I have not noticed driveability issues with locking, and unlocking. The list price is $312.00 at the dealership, and there is a $100.00 core charge.
I bought mine for $231 which is what I would call a discounted (shop price.)My parts guy also did not charge me for a core., just made me promise to return the old converter quickly in the same box.

That is an awesome price. I might just get me one for my wife's Sierra.

How long do these trans last with a stall. thinking about doing the same thing.
