I am from the Beaumont area and was at HRP like V8 mentioned. If you are from the Armpit of East Texas, I must be from the, well, maybe I shouldn't say...

The truck felt a lot better and was still pulling at the traps, I was like this then .

I am looking at a stall, shift kit and headers within the year, and believe it or not I may stop there, although a nice cam sure is tempting.

It's equivalent to stuffing some 4.10's in the rear. good for 1/4 mile bad for mileage.
I think the majority of the change is also from tire height. A 31" tire with 3.73 would be the equivelant of those 26" tires with a 4.44 gear! I would say about .2 or more of that reduction is from gear change. Also, the tailgate helps with the MPH at the top if you are not running a cover. Either way you look at it, it is a huge difference for minor change.

i think the VHO should have come with 4.10's from the factory. it's tough to say which was better, the lighter weight of the wheels or the shorter tire. i'd be guessing the main difference was the tire height. switching to a stall and a 4.10 gear those numbers would be much closer to each other.

The main difference is weight and where it's located, the the further out the weight is located from the center of the wheel the greater the inertia and the greater the power used to accelarate that mass.It also takes more braking force to stop.
