Default Track Results On 16" Wheels

I made it out to HRP Friday night and the results are in.

On the VHO 20s with 31" or so tall tires I ran:

60' - 2.194 secs
1/8 - 9.45 @ 75.87 mph
1/4 - 14.62 @ 94.22

I pulled off the tailgate, then put on the 16" wheels with 26" tall stock tires on the front and 26" tall drag radials on the back. I ran:

60' - 2.073 secs
1/8 - 9.06 @ 77.53 mph
1/4 - 14.20 @ 95.52

If the tailgate is worth .05 secs or so, it looks like the wheel & tire swap are worth about .3-.35 secs. In better weather with the spare off as well I could be real close to a 13 sec number. I could always pull the back seat out as well.

great improvement for just adding tires, i really would like to try a set of 26's et street radials to see how much my time can come down..

1/4 mile time is good, what mods have you done to get the vho to a low 14.

This is a great improvement just for going with shorter/lighter wheels. Congrats on your new times. What et streets where these?.... the 10.5 or the 11.5 in width.

These are the 10.5". They stuck like glue. Mods are Airaid intake tube, K&N conical filter with a cheapo heatshield, Flo-Pro HD muffler and a dyno tune from MTI. That is it. The truck has really woke up recently.

This is not uncommon for the VHOs. My times are actually a little slower than some of the other VHO owners are seeing. A good tune does wonders for these trucks.

I went to the track with a guy who has a quad cab hemi with intake, exhaust and hypertech tune. He ran a respectable 15.1 @ 88 mph on his 20s. His tires must be close to 33" tall.

going from a 31" tire to a 26" tire might have had something to do with it as well to really compare apples to apples you would need the same diameter tire and leave the tailgate on. I would think the actual difference would be .1-.2 at most for the 20's although I have no idea how heavy the factory 20's are. I think tire diameter was your biggest friend here. It's equivalent to stuffing some 4.10's in the rear. good for 1/4 mile bad for mileage.

I'm guessing that the gap between 2nd and 3rd gear felt a lot better too.Now wth a stall you can put that beast into the low 13s with some 1.8 60' times.
