Default TR220 is in! :)

Hey guys, got my TR220 in today! We were able to do the cam and the valvsprings, but ran out of time before we could get the converter in there. But man, I LOVE the way that cam sounds in this lil 4.8, this cam really pulls hard above say 2500rpm, all the way up to 6k. I have a few questions though, I wont be getting my new tune until tomorrowish, how much better do you guys think if will run with the right tune? What changes are made to tune for a cam? Just curious... Also, should I be running this cam up higher than 6k? Let me know...

Thanks

Glad to know you liked it. I would shift at about 6500-6600 with this cam.

So I have the stock tach, it only goes to 6K. Still waiting on my new tune from Allen Nelson, I didnt say anything about raising the shift points though, you think he will do this automatically for this cam? Also, since this is my first cam, Im not sure what its supposed to feel like yet, I havent really layed into it, since I dont have the tune yet. But what changes with the tune for the cam? Is it going to be night and day difference? Or does it basically just correct the idle?

to answer your question, the tune should deal with timing issue, it wil probably play with shift points and maybe firmness, idle rpm may change, fuel rich/lean-ness, and a few other internal things to get the cam running just right, and having the best powerband possible, good luck to you, you wont feel it's true power until you do lay into it, lay on it before and after the tune to see the difference IMO

The tune definatley woke it up! Running great, aside from it being sluggish out of the hole. (havent installed the converter yet) But from 2500+ it screams. Will install the converter this weekend more than likley.
