Default Towing package (weight removal)

Just a heads up for those with the towing package that never tow anymore like myself.

I just removed mine before I head off to work and it was definately worth the effort. Took about 5min of actual work (5more to find my tools).

Net loss?

33lbs!!!

It may not seem like a lot but add 10lbs for the front skid plates and 10lbs or so for the clutch fan/shroud and that's about 50lbs of permanent weight gone.

So now on race days I have a total of about 253lbs removed. Not too bad for not much work.

Anyone have any other cool weight removal tips on stuff we don't need?

Can the wiring be removed also or is it better to leave it?

Yes, the connector and all the wiring that leads to the steering column or at least I guess it goes to the steering column. I don't plan on towing with it. I didn't even plan on putting stuff in the bed but I had to (moved 4 times).

wires should be tucked up behind the rear bumper. thats where mine where when I tapped into them for the connector. I'm just gonna cut the wires there and tape them back up.

i ditched the spare, spare winch, jack, jack handle, tow hooks, lift blocks, skid plates.

i plan on doing a roll pan some day to get rid of the bumper.

and at the track i will pull the gate and pasenger seat.

This is a luxury of having a 4x4. I tried taking the spare off and tailgete and already had traction problems.

Get some stickies ... you'll have no more traction problems then.
