Im in Tampa FL. Im trying to decide between getting a 6.0 and 4L80 and later swapping out the shortblock or taking a little more time and going with a 408 and built 80' from the start. Ive got ALOT of expenses coming up with the build. Im also trying to decide between a T trim which will fit in my current bracket or a YSi which would require a new or modified bracket (another 1K or more).

Thers really no limit to what you can do,just add money and instant HP.I am a bargin hunter I enjoy it that way,i can afford to go all out but dont, home, kids ect.other things more important.

Someone metioned a long rod 6.0 use the OE crank, that PKG.is awesome for a SC set up like yours.

Im going with the slightly thinner FelPro 041's and an LS6 valley cover. Being this motor is a newer block no grinding has to be done for the cover to fit and work. Im gonna do the cam in about a month. Id just like to drive the truck a while without it. See how it acts. I do not want to use the LS6 springs with my new cam. The springs Ive got are only good to .550 lift and my cam is in the .560's. Plus I want to run a dual spring anyway.

RyPkr,

Im not tearing the motor down!! I just took the heads to have them worked. That and replace the valley cover so I can ditch the PCV valve. That was the point of me finding a running low mile motor. I did not want to have to rebuild it.

Man, you guys got my wheels turning! I might have to start from scratch and go a whole different direction here. 6.0 seems to be the way to go. Just gotta make the exhaust look legal to the smog *****. I see a 6.0 in my future, hopefully sooner than later.
