Small head bolts (8mm thread with 10mm hex) = 22 ft. lbs.

Some quick tips:

1)Drain the coolant just from the heads, not the whole radiator, by removing the water temperature sensor on the driver side head. Do this right before you are ready to remove the head crossover steam pipe. If you are changing the cam, then of course, drain the entire system, and remove radiator.

2) Soak the exhaust flanges (3 nuts) with PB blaster and let them soak for a long time. Use a 15mm box end wrench on the passenger side 2 nuts, a socket and ratchet on the 1 nut on pass. side that is easy to get to, and on all the drivers side.

3) Use an air ratchet, makes the job quick.

4) Just unplug the brake booster line at the diaphram, not on the manifold.

5) Remove 4 long 15mm hex and 1 short 15mm hex bolts from the alternator/power steering pump bracket, and carefully lower it and let it rest against the radiator fans. be careful not to pull on the cam sensor wires below this unit.

6) Remove the exhaust maniold to head bolts SLOWLY, and soak with PB Blaster. They use loctite at the factory, and these bolts can strip your heads or break.

7) Clean the old head gasket residuals from the heads with a new single edge razor and a small wire brush. Use some brakeclean to final wipe the surfaces. The MLS gaskets leave minimal gasket residual on the surfaces. Nice.

8) Mark the injector harness grey connectors (Sharpie) with the corresponding cylinder numbers 1-8. The rest of the engine harness is idiot-proof.
