Default Torque management question (5-soeed related)

I know people ask about torque management 100 times a day and I've read all the post through and through but what I can't find anywhere is a question on torque management with a 5 speed truck. My truck has a 4.8 with a 5 speed and with my diablo programmer attached I am looking at the timing while driving. I noticed when I push the clutch in, the computer pulls timing from 34 deg cruising to -4 then when the clutch is engaged it goes back up to 28-38 deg and fluctuates from there depending if you blip the gas peddle engaged in a given gear. So my question is, do 5-speed trucks have torque management or is this retarding in timing due to the knock sensors picking up noise from the pressure plate and retarding timing? Timing doesn't change in my 1970 chevy pickup at all between shifts I believe this change in timing also is the cause to the slight thud or clunk of the drivetrain everytime I engage a gear. Slow timing will do that. Thanks in advance for the info guys.

Joe

Someone posted on another forum that even trucks with 5-speeds have TM. One factor TM takes into account is the Throttle position sensor to road speed, which applies to every vehicle.
I'll see if I can find that page.

whoah, so the 5 speed trucks even have TM huh? I thought it was only applied to auto trucks. You only hear about autos and TM because most people are running auto's. I doubt my diablo power tuner is removing any of the factory TM. Even though I have a 5 speed truck.

So when people like westers and nelson go through these trucks, I'm willing to bet just by totally removing TM, they're getting about 20RWHP and TONS of throttle response. The other 5-10HP is probably done through actual tuning.

The 5 speed trucks DO have tm. I just found this out myself. Hptuners took care of that problem though.

Well who has a HP tuners within a few hundred miles of Minneapolis, MN that wants to remove my TM? I'd pay cash I have an 04 SILV so anyone willing, drop me a line. Can someone with HP tuners modify my predator tune? All I'd want is 100% TM removed
