Ive heard there are different type of timing chains for the lq9 motor going to build a 370 and was wondering what is better ive heard of double roller, single roller whats the difference what do you guys recommend

 

on all the old school v8s ive built, 2 440's, numerous 350's, and a 427, i ve always used double rollers, but on the ls, i would say go double, but havent torn into one yet, would like to know myself

 

The LS2 timing chain is a factory single roller that seems to be a nice cheap alternative over stock...at least on the "older" blocks. I believe that somewhere along the line all of the GENIII motors received the LS2 chain but I don't know for sure. I'll be using an LS2 chain myself when I build my LQ9.

I have the LS2 chain in mine aswell, if your cam is going to be mild, it will work just fine.

 

there are some ls2 timing stes for sale in the for sale section, I bought one. $62 shipped.

I'm currently using an LS2 chain, never heard anything bad about them.
