timing chain play

Default timing chain play

hey guys just putting in a new cam in my truck and was wondering how much play you can have in the chain and be alright.my truck only has11000 miles on it and didnt want to mess with the oil pump if i didnt need to but the stock chain seems sloppy.by the way the cams specs are 214 220 .579 .580 on a 114+4.thanks alot

If you put a new chain it will be loose again in 100 miles. Besides, the new chain is not going to seem much tighter. Just the nature of the beast. At 11k your old one should be fine.

Which springs are you going to use?

they are all sloppy and gm i believe deals with that by grinding advance in the cam

Who makes a cam grind with those lobes specs?

its a custom grind from comp cams. thanks guys i was just worried with the slop ,but if they are all like that i will just put it back on.
