Time for a new cam....
#1
I would like to wait till I get my FI plans sorted out, but I've haven't done a performance mod in almost a year
, so it's time to try to maximize the full potential of this 6.0l N/A.
I currently have a tiny 208/216 .500/.500 113 LSA Crane camshaft and LS6 Springs. Reading up on the subject, I believe something more agressive and a bit more lift should give me noticable gains.
I'm thinking about the Vince "045" (216/224 .551/.551 115). It's advertised as "Powerful Choopy Idle
and Dynamite with a Supercharger". Any idea how well this would translate over to a turbo?
I'll be upgrading springs, retainers, and seats also. Would the Vinci dual valve springs be too much? I already have hardened stock length pushrods installed that should get the job done.
Applicable mods are:
6.0l with ported/polished heads
Yank TT3000/Transgo
Intake/exhaust/ASM headers
Custom Tune
I know this topic is very subjective and has been discussed numerous times, but I would appreciate any comments.

I'm not too familiar with turbos, but I think that it would be good cam for you. Call Roger at Vinci and get his opinion, they're very helpful there. A lot of people think the Crane dual springs are not necessary, that 918s are fine which they are, but I think it is better not to mix and match different manufacturer's valvetrain parts.

You don't need an aggressive came to make power with a turbo unless you are going all out. Mighty Mouse made 800rwhp with a stock cam in a 5.7. I was gonna buy a 212 218 cam from him. He checked it to make sure it was what he advertised and discovered someone sold him a stock cam.

Cheers to the big dogs!

OK, I got up with them (Roger) yesterday. If I remember correctly the 045 cam is the one in their TT408. He said that turbos prefer reverse spilt cams, but the 045 will work well, but if you're planning on setting any records, there are other grinds out there.
He also highly recommend the 066 for the lower 114 LSA because of the more more torque and it is a very well rounded cam that fits into many applications well. The specs are:
DUR @ .004" 282* / 286*
DUR @ .050" 220*/ 224*
LIFT .551/.551
OVERLAP 57*
LSA 114*
Rockers we also highly recommend too along with their springs, which I already anticipated.
I hope this is correct, there's some much info and options, that cams are a whole separte discipline which is hard to grasp quickly.
