Default Time for a CAM!!

So pumped I'll be ordering my cam tomorrow. Just wanted some opinions from the folks on here. Its a 00 ecsb 5.3. Mods as of now are Cold Air,LT's,4.10s,yukon diff, circle D 3k stall,E fans, Dyno tune. I do a good bit of towing to and from the local lake here about 30 miles round trip a couple of times a week, but the boat and trailer weigh 3800-3900lbs. The truck tows awesome now and I want a cam that will work well with towing while still being a good power making cam at the same time. So I've decided to go with the TR224/224 on a 112. What's everyones opinion? Again I'm looking for a cam that's just on the border of being a power cam vs towing cam but does both well.

If you are getting it for towing then a 224 in a 5.3 is a bit on the big side.

I think it will be boarder line while towing but a boat under 3800 lbs wouldn't be a huge issue I wouldn't think..

Have you thought about cutting the heads .015-.020 ? That might get that low end back a little while towing and add nice throttle response

I'm not getting it specifically for towing. Just want to make sure it will do ok with it. I mean it will still be a big gain either way just might not be optimal.

I wouldn't go any bigger then a 220 in that setup.

I'm starting to think I may do the 220. Wonder if it will still have the nice chop at idle like the 224.

I agree the 220 would be a better option. Still has a nice tough sounding idle on the 112!

Heres a clip of 220 on 112 but in a 4.8. 5.3 should be a tad tamer.
