Yup, detonation fries plus in no time. A bad plug will cause misfires -especially noticeable at idle. Check all of the plugs like Flyer said. You probably melted one

well... this morning, the tick tick tick was very soft, i could barely hear it. so i let my truck warm up, and same thing. so i tried a test, i pulled a spark plug wire to see if the tick tick tick was still there or not. well, when i pulled the farthest plug on the driverside, i dont think i could hear the tick tick any more. so i pulled that plug, and it looked fine. so i switched plugs with the cylinder next to it. im kinda pissed now, cuz i can barely hear that tick... maybe after i pull that trailer to work, it will return. then i can do the test again to see if it switched cylinders. anyways, ill go ahead and get some new plugs just to be safe. oh yeah,, its rather shocking when you pull a plug wire off a running engine!

Keep in mind that you are probably getting non-audible detonation that will do just as much damage over time.

front left (driver's side) are odd numbered pistons. From the front(fan) to the back (firewall) it goes: 1,3,5,7

front right (pass. side) are even numbered pistons. From the front(fan) to the back (firewall) it goes: 2,4,6,8

I've been wondering that ...

It sounds like some plugs are burnt up.
