Getting ready to finally throw on my TBSS intake manifold. I already have an 87mm TBSS throttle body but would i gain more by porting it or going to a 90mm car throttle body? I've been trying to read but I get confused when everyone starts talking about gold blade vs silver, ls2, ls7. So basically I wanna know what is the best choice for a bolt on and cammed silverado ss. I've seen ls2 ones on ebay for 150ish but can port and poliah this 87mm for cheaper obviously.

 

And before anyone asks yes I do know I will need an x link.

 

What engine? Larger throttle body usually will hurt your lower power band, for a 5.3 87mm is fine.

 

It's an lq9. Just don't know if there is a known better throttle body everyone uses on these engines.

 

I plan on running the ls3 tb.. Alot of guys here just run the 87mm tb tho..

 

I just installed my TBSS manifold today and used the Ls3 gold blade 90mm. I believe only the 2.1 and newer xlink work with the ls3 tb but don't quote me, that's just what I've heard. I would assume that there would be somewhat of a difference between the truck and car tb's but it is probably so minimal you'd never notice it.

 

hey did you have any fitment issues with the throttle body? I have a lq9 06 sssand I'm doing the tbss intake swap but I have a ls3 90 90mm gold blade that I'm trying to install hut the water pump to radiator hose barely clears and that's with me smacking on it lol thanks

I have the LS3 T/B from a Camaro on my
truck manif, 2011 6.2 fit no prob, works great.

 

yea but yours is the 6.2 which in assuming has a different style water pump lol I have an 06 sss and it's a different style where the neck of the water pump comes so close to the 90mm tb. Thanks for the input tho man
