Throttle Body Boring/Porting Worth it??

Throttle Body Boring/Porting Worth it??
Took off my intake tube off the other day and was kind of taken back at how small the throttle boby is on this motor. I've had alot of different crotch rocket bikes and did all my own carb work on them. The last 1000cc bike I owned had four 40mm carbs on it. It seems like it would be kind of restrictive for a 5.3l engine to be breathing through this one proportionally smaller opening. I have access to cnc machines to do modifications on just about anything that is metal and can be machined. Would it be worth it to bore this thing out, make a new throttle plate or maybe just port the thing? I could by reverse engineering the original, build a completely new peice from solid billet stock with mods. I know from having many different bikes that a smaller carb or throttle body usually makes more torque and has better throttle response, but have not messed with these motors enough to know the results. If you have any experience please chime in. If you have an original throttle body you would not mind donating or selling cheap I would be willing to do mods on it for research sake.

I have had some one ask me to port my throttle body for a hundred bucks, they said it helps so if you can port it your self I would. I would check with more people first to see because I only heard from one person on this so I do not know if it really is a good idea.

The stock TB is 78mm and that is enough to flow 550 hp with the 85mm MAF. Porting will decrease air turbulence but unless you have SC/NO or big cubes it is adequate for most applications.
